Pray for Shreveport

April 20, 2026
Our hearts are absolutely broken this morning as we try to process the news of the tragedy that hit our Shreveport community this past weekend. There truly are no words for the senseless loss of these eight innocent children. It’s the kind of news that leaves you feeling heavy and just completely at a loss.

Right now, the best thing we as a community of believers can do is turn to prayer. We’re asking everyone across the diocese to please pray for the families of Jayla, Shayla, Khedarrion, Kayla, Layla, Markaydon, Sariahh, and Braylon. Please also pray for the two women who are still in critical condition. We also need to lift up the mothers and loved ones who are grieving and recovering, as well as the neighbors and first responders who are dealing with the weight of this.

In moments of such deep darkness, we have to lean on each other and our faith. Let’s hold these families close in our hearts and ask the Lord to bring some sense of peace and comfort where it feels like there is none. We’re standing with our Shreveport brothers and sisters, and we won’t let them walk through this grief alone.
