Employee Benefits

The Diocese of Shreveport provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, financial security, and well-being of employees and their families.

Retirement & Insurance

  • 403(b) Retirement Plan – Employees may enroll anytime. Employer contributions begin after 3 years and increase up to 5% after 7 years.
  • Life Insurance – Provided at no cost, up to 1.5× annual salary (maximum $50,000).
  • Long-Term Disability Insurance – No-cost coverage paying up to 60% of regular compensation if disabled.

Health & Flexible Spending

  • Medical, Dental, and Prescription Coverage – The Diocese pays 70% of employee-only premiums. Family coverage is available.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) – Medical and dependent care accounts with pre-tax contributions.

Time Off & Leave

  • Vacation Leave – 10 days (1–5 years of service), 15 days (6–11 years), 20 days (12+ years).
  • Sick Leave – 1 day per month, for personal or immediate family illness.
  • Bereavement Leave – Up to 3 days for immediate family, 1 day for extended family.
  • Jury Duty – Paid civil leave while serving jury duty.

Holidays

Observed holidays include New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday & Friday), and Christmas (Eve, Day, and day after). The Solemnities of the Assumption, All Saints, and the Immaculate Conception may also be observed.
