Mission Effectiveness is concerned with  the articulation, application and evaluation of  both the identity and mission within the operational context of an organization, i.e. the Diocese of Shreveport. Through the collaboration of both the pastors and diocesan directors, the Director works to maintain and integrate the vision and mission of the diocesan pastoral plan in all areas of the pastoral life of the Diocese.

In order to accomplish this, the Office of Mission Effectiveness encourages participation by seeking input from pastors, parish staff, parish councils and  parishioners; by offering continuing forums for education of councils and committees through structured planning activities such as Convention of Councils, deanery meetings, leadership and formation workshops; working with other directors and departments within the Catholic Center; other external boards, councils, and  organizations offering lay leadership training.

The Office of Mission Effectiveness continues to serve as a source of information and resources needed and requested by the parishes to continue to fulfill their mission, which in turn fulfills the mission of the diocese.

Philosophy
As the Mission of the Diocese of Shreveport unfolds before us, it is paramount that the parishes and quasi parishes in the 16 Civil Parishes of Louisiana are effectively living and working to achieve the mission of the diocese.  The Mission of the Diocese of Shreveport will be accomplished through the collaborative and deliberative effort of the pastors with the assistance of diocesan leadership, Catholic Center ministries and directors, parish leadership and the faithful.

In order to do this, the Office of Mission Effectiveness will:

  • Review and evaluate how well each parish understands the guidelines and mission of the Diocese. Offer assistance in clarifying the various roles of parish leadership.
  • Work  alongside the Pastor and parish leadership in   developing a  mission and vision for the parish as it relates to the Diocesan Pastoral Plan and Mission.
  • Assist with the continuing education and formation of the laity with particular emphasis on future parish leadership.
  • Evaluate the level of achievement  of the  goals and objectives as established by  the Diocesan Pastoral Plan.
  • Be a resource to the Pastor, parish staff, parish leadership through their councils and the faithful.
