Catholic Youth Pull Together
Attendees at the Young Adult Conference at the Catholic Center on February 16, 2008.
In the thoughts of Thomas Merton: “My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and in fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually so.”
In amazement, I see this diocese continually being blessed. The youth leaders of this diocese are pulling together to bring about one church. The Middle School Rally sparked many young people to come closer to understanding what faith is about. The High School Rally challenged us to “Encourage the Storm” – those emotions that stir within to determine what God is calling us for.
Sixty-five young adults attended the Young Adult conference. As the rain came down outside, the young adults felt that they could not think of a better place to be on this rainy day. The peace of Christ’s presence was with us throughout the day. The team did an outstanding job in pulling this conference together. They faced many challenges and handled themselves in a loving Christian manner. I thank all of you for the prayers, advisement and support in getting our college students, youth, and young adults together.
Sometimes, we need to take the time to look back to see where we’ve been. The Lord is always calling us. In your search I ask you to join me in praying, Mark 4: 1-20. Some of us are called to spread seeds, others to nurture, and some to supply sunshine. It takes all of us to do our part. “Are you planted on firm or rocky ground?”
