Fr. Patrick Scully Retires

With great sadness, the Diocese of Shreveport and the parishioners of St. Clement in Vivian announce the retirement of our beloved Father Pat, effective March 1, 2008. After serving God and man in the Dioceses of Alexandria and Shreveport for 52 years, it has become necessary for Father Pat to retire to concentrate on regaining his physical health. He did not intend to retire at this time, but it is imperative that he take this step in his life. For the last 10 years at Vivian, he has been shepherd, pastor, counselor, priest and friend to all, and he will be sorely missed. Knowing and understanding the cause of his retirement does not mitigate our sorrow and sense of loss. We wish him the best and will continue to pray for him as he works his way back to robust health. And so, Father Pat, you may have retired as our priest, but you cannot retire as our friend. We love you, and we sorrowfully acquiesce to your decision. We look forward to seeing you return to visit with us, and with that…

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
