New Coordinator for Religious

On March 19, 2008, Monsignor Earl V. Provenza appointed Sister Marilyn R. Vassallo, C.S.J. Diocesan Coordinator for Religious for the Diocese of Shreveport. This will be an additional responsibility to Sister Marilyn’s present ministry as the Director of the Office of Canonical Services.

The Office of Coordinator for Religious is basically an office that serves the needs of the Bishop and the religious women and men who minister in dioceses throughout the Church. As Coordinator for Religious, Sister Marilyn will serve as an advisor to the Bishop regarding issues concerning those men and women serving as religious in the Diocese of Shreveport. Monsignor hopes that through this office, the religious will have a meaningful forum in which to express their needs and share ideas that will benefit the mission of the Church in our diocese.

A “kick off” meeting has been scheduled for all religious men and women in the Diocese of Shreveport at the Catholic Center on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. This meeting will give all religious an opportunity to come together and share ideas that will assist Sister Marilyn in developing this new position. A luncheon will follow the meeting.
